  • National Writing Centers Association (NWCA)
    Writing Center Handouts
    A directory of online writing center handouts. Lists sites that provide indexes to their handouts. And, provides an index by subject for those sites with no index of their own. Covers everything from organizing and developing ideas to grammar and punctuation to documenting sources and plagiarism to using non-sexist language.

    Strives to be a comprehensive list of Writing Center sites.
  • OWLs on the Web - (Online Writing Labs) Links primarily to the “handouts” pages of the more comprehensive OWLs (Online Writing Labs) on the Web. A selection of these handouts have been organized by topic and directly linked in the Links for Writing section of this manual. Before going to these large sites, you might try looking through the OWL Handouts by Topic.
  • OWL Handouts (Purdue University) Purdue has one of the largest OWLs on the Web, covering everything from writing in the job search to punctuation, parts of speech, and spelling to English as a Second Language.   • Grammar Handbook Writers' Workshop, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Explains and illustrates the basic grammatical rules for parts of speech, phrases, clauses, sentences and sentence elements, and common problems of usage.

  • Superteach: Your English Language Grammar Tutor On-Line Lindsay Lyons, ABCheckers, an English language consultancy set up in 1995 by a group of New Zealand teachers. Free online English grammar lessons on verb forms, sentence fragments and "What is a sentence?"

  • Rensellaer Writing Center
  • Online Writing Lab From self-instructional materials on basic skills to pedagogical resources for teachers of writing across the curriculum. The site grew out of the Purdue Writing Lab's use of e-mail to distribute writing-related handouts. The Web pages now contain some 150 handouts on skills ranging from spelling to punctuation and research citation form.
